C’mon NSAA… TIME TO SHARE A STORY, A LAUGH, AN ANECDOTE ABOUT ONE OF OUR NSAA MATES!

January11

RonTacchiAs you are no doubt aware, one of our speaker legends Ron Tacchi has been fighting Leukaemia for some years. Ron recently sent out a general email and has asked that we circulate the information to his NSAA mates”, I have paraphrased it for you and ask you to join us now by getting involved with Ron’s Blog we have set up:

In depth testing and several expert opinions has confirmed that the Leukemia has returned and I have six to eight weeks to live if I take my pills and do little else. As if I had a choice! Walking to the bathroom and back, I have to stop to take little rests – and it ain’t that far!

Seriously, I don’t know what happened. The stem cell replacement last July was a huge success and everyone was smiling. I seemed to be getting stronger and was told to rest more. I may have overdone it a little because in November it hit the wall and I started sliding backwards at a great rate of knots. Weight loss – no appetite – no energy.

The other side of the story is I am OK with all this. When you figure I was first diagnosed with Terminal Leukemia and given only weeks to live back in August “07, I have had a pretty good run since then and most of it at a good “quality of life” level.

When I take my pills and lie back to rest, I can pick my thoughts and recreate with amazing clarity the very best times and places and people at whatever age. I’m just sorry I can’t share that with each of you.

Anyway, I don’t mean to ramble on but what I am also saying is I really don’t need any visitors. Trish has organised Palliative Care here at home for me for the coming weeks and this might take a little of the pressure off her as well.

Email is the best: Ron@RonTacchi.com.au or Trish at: pattyarlene@gmail.com

The only postal address to use is: Unit 6, 123-125 Macleay Street, POTTS POINT, NSW 2011

So, sometime around Mid March, there might be a little party in Sydney and a chance to meet some fun people if you plan to be in the area.

Thank You for being in my life.

Ron

We have set up this special blog so we can all laugh, share good times and for Ron to enjoy from his bed, why not get involved now?

Kind Regards

Brad Tonini CSP

The service and the ‘Celebration of Ron’s Life’ that followed at the Roseville Golf Club was just how Ron had planned it.

As you can see from these  photos, everyone enjoyed hearing stories about their mate SUPER TAC

I have left them in high res, so if you want to download any, just select the particular photo so it enlarges, then hit the arrow icon (pointing downwards) that will appear

LINK to grab the last few copies of Ron Tacchi’s only published book UP FRONT IN CONTROL ‘Great Masters Of Ceremonies reveal their trade secrets’

March11

As mentioned at the recent ‘Celebration of Ron’s Life’ for my co-author and best mate Ron Tacchi, I have made available a few copies of his only published paperback UP FRONT IN CONTROL to any friend of Ron’s or member of NSAA.

I originally wanted to call it ‘The Master of Ceremonies Guidebook’ but Ron vetoed that suggestion and insisted we use his title. As with everything, he was right. The title is very memorable and has really stuck in the minds of our readers since the beginning.

(Actually, I think he had already planned this title for many years and had always figured that, if someone would come along and have the tenacity to transcribe his amazing experiences about corporate MCing into a legitimate text (eg me), then it was always gong to be called by this name.)

Ron was very proud of this tome. It took us many years to pull together. As you read it, you will recognise his voice. It is a great summary of the man and his extraordinary talent.

Anyway, we kept adding to the resource with videos and audios. You can view it all at http://upfrontincontrol.com

A Tribute To Ron Tacchi from David Field

February28

Each of us meet less than a handful of people in our lives, that we know are special. Its usually in the way they inspire others and make them feel good about themselves – and in the process engender their loyalty, respect and great affection. Quite modesty, good humour, gracious dignity and well-tempered resilience are their hallmarks. Significantly they display these qualities equally in their business & social lives, not because of a calculated and manipulative intent, but because, by their very nature they treat all people alike.

Ron Tacchi was such a person. Rest in peace.

VALE Mr Ron Tacchi – a true legend whose spirit will live on

February25

(Entire extract of email from Ron’s Wife Trish)

Ron had wanted to draft this letter himself next Tuesday.  Unfortunately, his health deteriorated much faster than anticipated and he spent his last 48 hours in palliative care.

Ron displayed tremendous courage and bravery during the entirety of his illness. His ability to stay positive and maintain his humour and grace throughout his hard fought battle was an inspiration to all who encountered him.

Today at 12:15 pm Ron passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He is now on the journey to his next chapter.

Funeral arrangements will be forwarded as soon as they are finalized. These arrangements will be executed precisely as per Rons’ wishes.

At this time, I would like to thank all of you who have sent their wishes, thoughts and prayers. Your support has given me strength and comfort. As you can imagine I am a bit overwhelmed, if I have left anyone off this list please assist by forwarding this email on.

Thank you

Trish

Ron & Allan Pease getting paid out …

Ron Tacchi & Allan Pease getting paid in mattresses

Apparently, as legend has it, Allan Pease and Ron still laugh about one of their clients offering to make up any shortfall in the fee by getting paid in the company products eg mattresses!

Ron’s great mate and wonderfully talented artist Tony Kentuck drew up this cartoon to celebrate the occasion.

Urban myth or not, it’s a great memory for those who have been around a while of the old days and how the speaking industry has changed. I mean, I haven’t been offered to be paid in company products for at least 12 months! Best Wishes from Pete Miller

Hey Ron,

What an extraordinary human being.  Even though I’m reasonably new to NSAA , I feel truly blessed to have had a few magical moments with you. I had the pleasure of sitting at your table for “Ask the experts” at last year’s convention.  At the time, I was struggling with how to “package” my expertise, and you generously offered to help me.  Not long afterwards, I woke up  with the idea of calling myself  ”The Confidence Coach.” And it’s a perfect fit for what I do.  Divine intervention??? Or perhaps “ Ron/devention” ie: being in the presence of  a wise soul called Ron? Lol!

Anyway, you are such an inspiration to so many of us for so many reasons.  Not least of which, how you are handling this incredbly challenging chapter in your journey.

Thankyou Ron for your generosity of spirit, your wisdom, and all the wonderful things you’ve done for NSAA.  You are such a gift!!!!

Lots of love, light and appreciation,

Kathryn xxx

He seems nervous!

January27

Dear Ron,
I recall arriving into Sydney from New Zealand back in ‘97 and learning more about the speaking industry. Many of my NSAA peers told me to go and talk with a guy called Ron Tacchi who ran a speakers’ bureau in Mosman. It was with some trepidation that I walked through your doors and saw row upon row of celebrity speakers on the wall. I thought to myself, ‘there’s no way this guy is going to be interested in talking with me’. How wrong I was.
You welcomed me like an old friend and gave me enormous encouragement at a time when I needed it. Your one day bootcamp in which you shared so much sealed it for me. ‘What a polished performer’ I thought to myself. So, you can imagine my surprise at a recent NSAA convention (about 4 years ago) when I saw you getting ready to address the audience after lunch. You looked nervous, kept mopping your brow with handkerchief and generally looked very uncomfortable. I was ready to go call an ambulance until it became clear that my leg (and that of many others) was being pulled big time and that this was in fact a brilliant Ron hoax! It was a presentation I will never forget.

Thanks for all your support thoughout my speaking career. It really made a difference.
Isn’t that what life’s all about?

My thoughts are with you.
